My Days Beyond

Written and recorded in my apartment in London during 1997, this is quite a large group of songs which would have been at the time written as possible songs for the upcoming Cure record.

Interestingly they were recorded and mixed pretty much entirely on headphones as I didn't have a real studio at the time.

A lot of MIDI but starting to introduce digital recording of different instruments into the mix. There is quite a wide mix of influences here and I was listening to a lot of Goldie and Grooverider at the time so theres a bit of an influence in the beats.

18 songs so it would have been a double album haha I dont think I ever considered releasing this as an album but it is a cohesive group of songs with quite a distinctive style.

There are some really nice MIDI delay effects that you can hear in Day 1 that were made possible by an effect in the software which I dont use any more. Its about the only thing I miss....

Track 10 "When The Rain Turns To Snow" should probably have been on Big Buildings from when it was written and Im not sure why its here. Anyway it was written for a good friend of mine Cynde and I wrote it just before I left Toronto to rejoin The Cure. The main effect in it is only possible on a Prophet 5 synthesizer and I really love this sound and this song. Hearing these songs now, obviously I made best use of what sounds I had at the time but I just wish I could go back and put better sounding piano on some of the songs. Of course I could and I might if I can find the original song files haha
