Those of you that have followed me for a while will know that the closing song on my 2008 album “Songs From The Silver Box,” “Musique Pour Irakli” was written for a fashion designer friend of mine called Irakli. In fact the song inspired the whole album and I have always been grateful to Irakli for this and also for allowing me to fulfill one of my dreams, to compose music for and perform at a fashion show in Paris!
I saw Irakli in London in November when he came over to see The Cure perform Reflections at the RAH. We had lunch the next day and talked about future projects together.. The first one is complete, I have composed five short piano pieces called “Les Kaleidoscopes” for his website which will launch soon. I tried to combine every element about Irakli in these pieces, he is from Georgia, he lives in Paris, his collections are predominantly knitwear and so on… You can listen to one of them here >
Our next collaboration will be much grander and we will compose and design his new collection and music for it together in Paris. I think this will be an amazing challenge and I cant wait to start in the Autumn…
